The Fayette County Republican Party held it’s 2018 Deplorables Dinner this past Saturday evening with a sold out house at the beautiful Country
Place in Moscow, TN. The theme was “God, Country & Politics”. The featured speaker was Todd Starnes, from FOX News Radio & Commentary. Other guest speakers included U.S. Senate
Candidate- Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7), Congressman David Kustoff (TN-8), Tennessee gubernatorial candidate Bill Lee, and Tennessee GOP Chairman, Scott Golden.
FCRP Chairman Angela Courtney started the evening off by talking about the importance of electing Republicans at all levels of government including the local level. She acknowledged the 19 local Republicans running for County Offices for the first time in Fayette County history.
Chairman Golden introduced Congressman Blackburn and fired the crowd up about the importance of filling Senator Corker’s seat with a Republican. Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) gave an ardent speech about her qualifications and the necessity of electing a Conservative Republican for Senate who will support the President’s agenda and his upcoming US Supreme Court pick.
Dr. Manny Sethi, orthopedic trauma surgeon from Vanderbilt University Medical Center and founder of Healthy Tennessee, received the 2018 Fayette County Republican Party’s Chairman’s Circle Award for outstanding service to the State of Tennessee along with a Congressional Proclamation and U.S. Capital Flag from Congressman David Kustoff (TN-8). Dr. Sethi’s non-profit foundation,Heathy Tennessee, brings communities together with health care providers and other various organizations to provide medical screening and health education across Tennessee.
Congressman David Kustoff echoed the previous speakers about the need for Tennesseans to elect Congressman Blackburn to the US Senate. He also highlighted his legislative accomplishments and his unwavering support for President Trump.
Chairman Courtney introduced Mr. Bill Lee who outlined for the audience the reasons why he was the best choice for Governor. Mr. Lee highlighted his executive experience in the corporate world, his conservative Christian values, and his political outsider status in the race. It was interesting to note that in a week that saw other gubernatorial candidates launch attack ads, Mr. Lee chose to stay above the fray and keep the focus on the reasons why he felt he’d make the best Governor for the people of Tennessee.
Fox News commentator and best selling author Todd Starnes finished out an informative and fun filled night as the evening’s Featured Speaker. Todd was enthusiastically received by the capacity crowd at The Country Place. Starnes delivered a passionate and humorous message about the critical need for conservatives to stand up for religious and other First Amendment freedoms. Todd documented the Left’s assault on traditional American values and the American’s that are pushing back. His high energy speech captivated the audience and received a well deserved standing ovation.
The night concluded with a previously unadvertised Straw Poll to gauge where Fayette County’s support lay in the 2018 Republican Primary for Tennessee Governor. The winner of the 2018 Fayette County Tennessee Gubernatorial Candidate Straw Poll was Mr. Bill Lee. Mr. Lee received 72 votes followed by Congressman Diane Black with 20 votes, Mr. Randy Boyd 11 votes, and Speaker Beth Harwell 2 votes.
